Failure cause of rolling bearing

Rolling bearing is one of the indispensable basic components of running machinery. Although the volume of rolling bearing is small and low cost, once the rolling bearing fails, the loss to the running machinery and even the whole production equipment is huge.

With the rapid development of technology, the quality requirements of rolling bearings are getting higher and higher. Especially for automatic and continuous production enterprises, the reliability of rolling bearings is very demanding, so how to improve the reliability of rolling bearings has become one of the main problems to be solved urgently by rolling bearing manufacturers and customers.

The reliability of the rolling bearing is closely related to the failure form of the rolling bearing. To improve the reliability of the bearing, it is necessary to proceed from the failure mode of the bearing and carefully analyze the cause of the failure of the rolling bearing in order to find out the concrete measures to solve the failure.

Contact fatigue failure is the material fatigue failure due to the effect of alternating stress on the working surface of the bearing.

The common form of contact fatigue failure is contact fatigue stripping. The contact fatigue peeling occurs on the bearing working surface, often accompanied by fatigue cracks, first from the maximum alternating shear stress below the contact surface, and then extends to the surface to form different peeling shapes, such as pitting or pitting peeling, peeling into a small sheet called shallow layer peeling.

Due to the gradual expansion of the peeling surface, it will slowly expand to the deep layer, forming a deep peeling. Deep peeling is the fatigue source of contact fatigue failure.
